PROFESSOR SIMISOLA OLUWATOYIN AKINTOLA
Professor Simisola Oluwatoyin Akintola was born in Ibadan and received her early education at Maryhill Convent School, Ibadan and her secondary school Education at St Louis Grammar School, Ibadan, before proceeding to the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where she obtained her LL.B (Hons) degree in 1987. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988 and subsequently earned her Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in 1991 from the University of Ife and a specialised Master of Laws in Global Health Law from Georgetown University Washington DC in 2008. She completed her Ph.D. in Law and Bioethics at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, in 2016. She is a a certified mediator. Professor Akintola joined the University of Ibadan in 1991 as a Lecturer in the Department of Private and Business Law (now Department of Private and Property Law), Faculty of Law. She rose through the academic ranks, becoming a Senior Lecturer, Reader, and subsequently Professor. Her distinguished career at the University includes serving as Sub Dean Postgraduate, Acting Head of Department of Private and Business Law, Acting Head of Department of Private and Property Law, Dean of the Faculty of Law, University Orator, Member of the University of Ibadan Governing Council, before her current appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships).
